The Banks family has been traced back to the 17th century in Virginia, where most of my mother's family, and now my parents themselves, live. June Banks Evans, a cousin of my father's, undertook the daunting task of searching through official records to come up with a family history and produced an intriguing volume from the results, "Settlers Along the Shores of Virginia's York River."
